OLATHE, Kan. — Police responded to a home Friday afternoon in Olathe after reports of a disturbance in which someone had a gun.

Authorities were called out at about 3:30 p.m. to the home on Frontier Lane, less than a mile away from Heritage Elementary School and Arrowhead Park. According to police, when officers arrived on the scene they found that a 69-year-old male suspect had discharged a firearm inside the house during a disturbance.

The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, was taken into custody at the scene and later lodged in the Johnson County Adult Detention Center pending a court appearance in Johnson County District Court.

Heritage Elementary School was locked down for a short time until police confirmed the situation was under control. The school normally dismisses at 3:40 p.m.; the lockdown was lifted at 4:00 p.m.
