KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An historical building in the Crossroads District now has a modern look to it.
Look up! You’ll see Travois Holdings Inc. has 330 solar panels on its roof, giving it the city’s largest private solar canopy. The huge canopy should power all of the building’s power needs, even air conditioning during the summer.
Solar and Wind KC installed the canopy, making adjustments for the historical structure.
“This building is a very old building. The roof structure was not capable of handling any more weight,” said Andrew Homoly with Solar and Wind KC. “So what we did is build this solar canopy where the columns are right on top of the existing columns on the inside of the building.”
