INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Authorities have lifted the lockdown for two schools in the Independence School District, but the search for the burglary suspects that caused the lockdown continues.

Korte Elementary School and Nowlin Middle School, near 2437 S Hardy Ave., were on lockdown for a time on Thursday as police searched the area near Overton and Westport roads for suspects wanted in connection to a home burglary in the area.

Authorities say that the schools lie outside the perimeter now being searched.

There is no word on the description of the suspects.
