OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The son of an Overland Park doctor has been charged with the attempted murder of his father, following a stabbing Thursday afternoon at the Overland Park Arboretum.

Emergencies crews were called out the scene at about 2:30 p.m. where the victim, Dr.  Robert Holcomb, suffered critical stab wounds.

Dr. Holcomb’s son, Maxwell Holcomb, 20, was arraigned Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Johnson County Court, but he did not appear because he is also in the hospital.

FOX 4’s Megan Brilley reported that police believed the stabbing was a domestic situation between father and son. A news release indicated that the son stabbed his father several times.

The son then reportedly ran away from the scene and police apprehended him after a search of the area at 194th Street and Flint. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he remains, he was said to be conscious when taken away in an ambulance.
