OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – A Lee’s Summit man faces more than a dozen charges of burglary and theft in Kansas. One of his alleged victims says she was targeted.
“I came through this door and there was change and just trash spread everywhere,” Zoe Herrington told FOX 4 News.
Herrington didn’t know what to think. She had been remodelling her home and wondered if a worker made the mess. She quickly realized it was much more.
“So I walked around the corner and every thing you can imagine was sprawled everywhere,” she recalled.
Herrington’s home had been burglarized. Cash, jewelry, furs and a lot more was gone.
“In my master closet, I have organized all my LV luggage and purses. I had over a hundred pieces of those that are missing,” she said.
Tens of thousands of dollars worth of belongings, but the memories attached to them are priceless.
“They all have special meaning. My father gave me a great deal of these. He’s deceased now and that’s one thing. I can replace these bags, but I can’t replace the memories,” Herrington said.
A couple of weeks after the break in, an arrest was made. Steven A. Glaze was booked March 22. He bonded out on April 2.
Herrington said police told her something disturbing after they asked if she knew one of her cars was in Florida.
“I said, ‘How do you know this?’ He said, ‘Your son had a tracking device put on that car,'” she told FOX 4 News.
It turns out her car had one too. When Glaze was pulled over by police, Herrington says they found the tracking information in his car. Combine that with what was taken from her home and she believes the burglary was accomplished by more than one person.
“I feel they’ve been in this house before, because everything that had any value — something you could move quickly on the streets, they took,” she said.
Herrington has little hope of getting any of her belongings back, but she did get a new friend. Her new guard dog is named Quatros. He’s helping her feel safe once again in her own home.
