KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Orange Wednesday is the new Black Friday in Zona Rosa. Since the sales are coming early, it might make Christmas shopping a little easier for moms.

“This is the first time going out with two of them,” said Amber Dorton, a mother of two.

Big brother David is a year and a half. He’s a big handful, but add another bundle named Tyler, who is less than two weeks old, and you’ve got a very busy Amber Dorton. A bigger family means strategic shopping.

“Sales and clothes, he goes through them so fast,” she said.

This year the Black Friday sales at Zona Rosa actually start on Orange Wednesday.

“We’re giving away 10k in prizes. We’re making that night our big holiday push,” said Zona Rosa General Manager Rosemary Solerno.

The big door buster deals will kick off Orange Wednesday from 6 to 10 p.m. Some stores will be open Thanksgiving Day, and then Zona Rosa will be up and running for Black Friday.

“We’ll be stocking up. We’ll have sales anywhere up to 80 percent off,” said Scott Sorenson, who is the Store Manager of Go! Calendars, Games & Toys located at the shopping center.

Now is the time to craft a game plan before the secret it out.

“We just got to figure out this one. He doesn’t play with much,” said Dorton.
