GARDNER, Kan. — One person is dead following a one-car accident in Gardner, Kan.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said shortly after midnight on Dec. 3, Gardner police received multiple calls of a driver — possibly intoxicated —  driving recklessly up and down I-35. Responding officers located the vehicle on the interstate near Gardner Road. Police observed continuous erratic behavior that posed a great risk to public safety. Repeated attempts to stop the vehicle were unsuccessful.

The driver of the vehicle crashed in the 35000 block of 199th Street and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver has not yet been identified.

The incident is under investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
