CAHOKIA, Ill. — A Learjet landing safely Monday afternoon in Illinois after several tense moments. The plane reported landing gear problems and feared a “crash landing” or “belly landing,” how both appeared to have been avoided.
Eight people were on board. The pilot spent minutes circling the airport in an attempt to burn off fuel before landing at Lambert Airport.
Fire department and other emergency personnel were standing by on the ground, prepared to assist if needed.
