KINGSTON, Ont. — A real-life Grinch had to spend the night in a Canadian jail after he, in essence, tried to steal Christmas from kids at a parade.
According to the Toronto Star, the unidentified 24-year-old man was allegedly drunk when he crashed the annual Kingston, Ontario, Santa Claus parade last Saturday evening and shouted “Santa isn’t real” to shocked children.
(Editor’s Note: Don’t worry, kids – the drunken man simply doesn’t know what he’s talking about.)
Kingston Police say that the man, who was on probation, was arrested for causing a disturbance by being drunk and breach of probation. He was granted bail – on the condition of remaining sober – after spending the night in jail.
“It was pretty despicable that someone, during this time of the year, would tell kids Santa isn’t real — which of course we would argue,” Kingston Police Constable Steve Koopman told The Star.
