OTTAWA, Kan. — The Ottawa Police Department and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting that left a 4-year-old with a single gunshot wound to his leg.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. Friday in Ottawa in the 1100 block of N. Oak St., according to police.

The child was taken to Children’s Mercy hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

No one else was hurt.

Brian Keith Bruno, 39, was arrested in connection for aggravated endangerment of a child, endangerment and criminal discharge of a firearm.

There were two others adults and two more children inside the home at the time of the shooting, police said.

Bruno is being held in the Frankly County Adult Detention Center awaiting a court appearance.

Officers said they continue to investigate the case and didn’t offer any additional information about the shooting.
