Darin Snapp, spokesperson for the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department, said the cause of death is still unknown. A body examination of the deceased male, identified by police as Kyle A. Van Winkle, 30, of Smithville, Mo., did not show any obvious signs of trauma.
It may take up to four to six weeks for detectives to receive autopsy and toxicology results in order to determine Van Winkle’s cause of death, and to know whether or not a crime had actually occurred.
Authorities said as the investigation continues, further information will be released as it becomes available.
