KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police say they are now investigating a suspicious death at an area water park as a homicide. While the victim still hasn’t been identified, a KCPD spokeswoman provided an update late Monday night about the development in the investigation.
Investigators say someone called police around one on Sunday afternoon with what they referred to as an “ambulance call.” The Kansas City Fire Department responded and paramedics told police a person was found dead inside the Bay Water Park in south Kansas City.
Outside of those details, police still haven’t released a description of the victim. They originally called it a suspicious death instead of a homicide. A mobile command center had been set up at the scene.
“At this time we don`t know the manner of death. We`re leaving that up to the Jackson County Medical Examiner and once that`s done we will determine whether we keep this as a suspicious death or not,” said Sgt. Kari Thompson of the Kansas City Police Department on Sunday.
