LAWRENCE, Kan. — An early morning stabbing believed to be the result of domestic violence has left one victim dead and the suspected assailant arrested. A news release from the Lawrence Police Department states that emergency responders arrived to scene located in the 4300 block of W. 24th Place where they attempted to save the victim’s life but were unable to.

Investigators interrogated a 27-year-old female suspect and arrested her for a charge of second-degree murder. Her relationship with the victim, who was identified as a male, is unconfirmed at present. Neighbors who spoke with FOX 4 said they didn’t hear a disturbance and were surprised to learn the news.

The suspect is expected to make her first appearance in Douglas County court on Thursday. The police department states that because this case involves domestic violence, it will not release the identity of the male victim.
