SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Relatives of Gary and Jan Tyrrell said they had trouble getting in touch with them and when police went to check their home on Thursday night, both were found dead. Springfield Police say in a news release that their deaths are being investigated as a double homicide.
Police said they were sent to the couple’s home in the 3200 block of S. Greenbrier Ave. at 7 p.m. on Thursday where officers made the discovery. Further details about the crime have not been released. Other media reports indicate that Gary Tyrrell was an educator and Jan Tyrrell volunteered at the Southwest Missouri Office of Aging.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Gary Tyrrell listed himself as an instructor at William Woods University and Southwest Baptist University. He also previously worked as an instructor at Drury University and spent more than 30 years working in the Mountain Grove R-3 School District.
