OAK GROVE, Mo. — An Oak Grove man opened fire in the 40000 block of East Campbell Thursday when he saw two suspected burglars on his father’s property.
The homeowner’s son arrived at the property at about 4 p.m. Thursday and confirmed his father’s suspicions that something didn’t look right.
“He noticed that the building doors were wide open. The gate was still locked so he thought that was kind of strange,” the man, identified as ‘Irvin’ said.
Irvin said as he pulled his car in between two buildings on his father’s property, two people jumped out of the bush. Irvin pulled out his gun.
“I was trying to shoot out the tires, shoot out the window. That way the cops know exactly what to look for,” he said.
A sheriff’s deputy spotted the car near I-70 and 291 northbound and after a brief chase, the deputy caught one of the suspects, a 32-year old man.
Then authorities say they found the second suspect.
“One male suspect was able to be taken into custody at the same time we have received a call that a female had been dropped off at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. We can confirm that she was involved in the burglary and the second suspect at the scene,” said Sgt. Ronda Montgomery, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
The 41-year-old woman’s gunshot is considered non-life threatening.
