KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Police are investigating after an officer shot and killed a person in the early-morning hours on New Year’s day.

Police said the officer responded to the 4000 block of North 55th Street in Kansas City, Kan., to conduct a pedestrian check on a suspicious person. Police said a struggle began between the suspect and the officer, and the officer fired his gun, killing the suspect.
