KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Police were involved in a standoff outside a home near 48th Terrace and Oak Grove Road in Kansas City, Mo. The standoff began around 11:45 a.m. Thursday and ended at about 1:30 p.m. when the person came out of the house and surrendered to police.

FOX 4’s Eric Burke reported live from the scene. He said uniformed and plain-clothed officers armed with guns were outside the home during the standoff.

There have been conflicting reports regarding the number of people who were inside — some reports stated there may be children. . Authorities initially expressed concern about the suspect’s mental state, saying they were unsure if he would surrender peacefully, but in the end, he did.
