SPRING HILL, Kan. – Police questioned a Spring Hill High School student who was taken out of class after a threat was posted to his social media page.

On Monday, police said a threat was posted to Facebook which involved a gun at the high school. They said the issue was immediately brought to the attention of school officials and law enforcement was contacted.

Police questioned the student and said no weapon was found. Students and staff at the school were said to be safe and sound as of mid-day Monday.

FOX 4 is not naming the student, on whose Facebook page the threat appeared. He is not under arrest and after questioning was turned over to his parents.

A Johnson County, Kansas sheriff’s deputy told FOX 4 the student is welcome in school on Tuesday and a spokesperson for the Spring Hill School Departments says there is evidence suggesting someone else posted the threat on the student’s Facebook page.

The treat was posted this morning just before 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning.

I have a gun and i am going to kill allot of people in the spring hill high school and i am not going to lat you take my gun from me,” read the post.

After students saw the post and reported it to the school’s resource officer, the student was pulled out of class and questioned. Administrators say there was no gun and determined it was “not a credible threat”.

John Michael Weishaar says he was one of the first students to see the threat on the Facebook page.

“It was pretty scary. You don’t just say that stuff over Facebook,” said Weishaar. “It comes back to you if you don’t react to it and something does happen, then nothing got done about it.”

District administrators say it may have been someone else. They also thanked everyone for their concern with the matter, and reassured everyone that the safety of their students and staff remains their top priority. Police say their investigation is ongoing.
