KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A driver hits a teenager and takes off, and Kansas City Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver.
Police say the teen was walking east bound when a white truck, which was also traveling east bound, hit him knocking him into a ditch. Then the driver fled.
At 47th and Maywood, where the incident took place, neighbors say they aren’t surprised by the accident. The speed limit is 45 on 47th Street but people who live on the street say drivers are constantly speeding. With little to no lighting they say it creates a dangerous situation.
It is typical to see a lot of people walking on 47th, but neighbors say they don’t have any other choice.
“There’s a school half mile that way, main development half mile that way. Where are they going to walk? There’s no sidewalk. So they’ve got to walk right next to the street,” said neighbor Richard Steckelberg.
The teen was recovering as of Sunday with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are still searching for the driver. If you know anything about this case please call CrimeStoppers at (816)474-TIPS.
