GOLDEN CITY, Mo. — The search continued Wednesday for a missing 12-year-old girl who was kidnapped Monday evening in southwest Missouri. A team of law enforcement officers and volunteers were searching on horseback, on foot and on ATV for Adrianna Horton. Police believe the girl was taken from a park near her home by Bobby Bourne, 34, who was known to Horton’s father. Bourne has been charged with her kidnapping .
Dozens of volunteers assisted law enforcement officers in searching areas west of Golden City. They were expected to search ponds, pits, abandoned buildings and any area they believe Bourne may have been familiar with, or that a lead suggests they search.
At this point, FOX 4 News has learned all leads are being treated equally, which means investigators will look just about anywhere.
James Horton, Adrianna’s father, is receiving a lot of support from people in the community. He says he’s grateful for it, but says Bourne needs to step up and tell investigators where his daughter is.
“We’ve got it narrowed down to 90 minutes where he had a chance to run with her,” Horton said. “She’s gotta be somewhere. If she isn’t, she has to be somewhere else, he swapped her with somebody. That’s the only other thing I can figure. I hope that’s not true. I’m hoping she’s just scared and in a building or in a field. I’m hoping and praying she’s west of town here where we are going to go search. I’m hoping she’s out there somewhere.”
The FBI and highway patrol are helping local sheriff’s deputies with the search. But by far, ordinary people make up the largest contingent of searchers. Many took off work to help Horton in the search for his daughter.
James Horton says it is comforting to know Bourne is safely behind bars facing a kidnapping charge.
The Barton County Clerk of Courts says a judge has sealed all of the charging documents concerning Bourne.
Bourne has not yet made his first court appearance. The clerk of courts said that could happen at any time. And it may be a video arraignment from jail.
