KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police are searching for a woman who they say dragged a tow truck driver with her car before fleeing the scene of a minor accident at Blue Ridge Blvd. and U.S. Hwy. 24.
Officers say the driver was hospitalized Monday with a serious head injury. They say the man was trying to prevent the woman from leaving a liquor store parking lot after she caused a chain-reaction traffic accident involving the towing company vehicle.
Surveillance footage from a business across the street shows a white Corolla turning into a liquor store then bumping into two other cars in its way.
When the driver comes out of the liquor store, the tow truck driver tried to stop her from leaving, grabbing onto the hood of the woman’s vehicle. She continued to drive off, causing him to roll off the hood and slam into the pavement, while the woman drove away. His identity hasn’t been released.
“She made a u-turn and there was a Suburban coming and he was in between the Suburban and got smashed. I thought the guy was dead. he was lying in the middle of the street. He wasn’t moving for two minutes,” said Jacob Covington, who witnessed it.
