KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The manager of a convenience store in Kansas City North tells FOX 4 that one of their regular customers came in Thursday morning and discovered he had won the $70-plus million Christmas Powerball.

According to the manager, the man comes into the Autobahn Convenience Store at N.W. Prairie View Rd. and Belvidere nearly every day for coffee and a donut. On Thursday, when he arrived for his usual breakfast, the manager says he told the man to check his Powerball ticket because the winner was from Missouri.

When he did, the Powerball machine told him to “See Cashier.”

Hanish Kumar said he sold the winning Powerball ticket.“At that time he came, same as usual, and he didn’t know that he won the lottery. I just asked him, ‘Man, check your ticket. Maybe you win. Somebody hit in Missouri already and he checked his ticket at my machine,” said Hanish Kumar, the store manager. “I couldn’t believe his face.”

Kumar says the man asked him to check the ticket on the machine behind the counter. The manager says the man was dancing around the store, jubilant and then left with the ticket that he had bought on Christmas Eve.

Then, ten minutes later the manager says the winner came back to buy his coffee and donut and told Kumar he was going to work.

The manager says he knows the man as ‘Kevin.’

“He was excited. He was shaking,” Kumar said.

The winning numbers are 23, 28, 38, 39, 56 and the Powerball number is 32.

The Missouri Lottery does not release the names of winners until the person comes forward and completes the verification process in Jefferson City, which can take a few days.

Congratulations, Kevin! And good luck!
