KANSAS CITY, Mo. — As FOX 4 Problem Solvers first reported, the Tuscany Reserve Homeowners Association in Leawood was to vote this week on the fate of Fred, a swan that some neighbors say is overly aggressive and scares young children.

However, the board decided Tuesday to give Fred a one-week reprieve before giving every homeowner the chance to cast a vote on Fred’s future. Already, Fred’s fans are popping up across the metro willing to make room for Fred in their neighborhood if Tuscany Reserve decides its time for this swan to sign his final song.

Remember Jane Toliver?

She’s the Kansas woman who wants to know what happened to the rest of her husband’s cremains.

For nine years she’s stored them in a tiny drawer inside a small clock. Now she wonders whose remains they are since learning that they weigh far less than they should. They weigh only 1.5 pounds. Experts say adult cremains should weigh anywhere from 5 to 10 pounds.

FOX 4 Problem Solvers contacted D.W. Newcomer’s Funeral Home in Johnson County, Kansas, and was told no records remain of the cremation since it happened nearly a decade ago. But Newcomers said it was working with Ms. Toliver to resolve the problem to her satisfaction.

Problem Solvers learned this week that Newcomers has offered to reimburse Ms. Toliver $3,000 from the cost of her husband’s funeral service and cremation. Ms. Toliver said she nows considers this problem solved.

Hall of Shame

Not solved, however, are customer complaints regarding Curvy Divas, an Independence consignment store that suddenly closed up shop, but never notified many of the women who had left clothing there to sell.

Curvy Divas owner Brenda Cole promised Problem Solvers it would reimburse customer Amy Thompson the money she was owed. But that promise was made more than a month ago and Thompson has never heard from Cole and has not received a dime. So Brenda Cole, for never fulfilling your promise to either your customers or Problem Solvers, you are now an official member of the FOX 4 Problem Solver Hall of Shame.
