KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Businesses around the Kansas Speedway are raking in the dough with this weekend’s race. About 100,000 fans are in KCK for the STP 400.

When fans aren’t at the Kansas Speedway, they’re making registers ring at nearby stores and restaurants. About a mile away from the race track, Frontier Steakhouse is just one of the businesses seeing a boom from race fans coming through t he door.

“We’re kind of the good country cooking that these folks are used to in NASCAR,” said Ron Lafoon with the Frontier Steakhouse.

Lafoon says in two days the restaurant will make the same amount of money it usually takes two weeks to make.

The seven hotels closest to the Speedway are also completely booked this weekend. Some say it’s one of the few times hotels sell out during the year.

Everyone is watching in hopes that continued races at the speedway will keep crowds growing as well.
