KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Rainy weather didn’t stop dog lovers from attending the sixth annual Woofstock at Zona Rosa on Sunday.

Woofstock raises thousands of dollars each year for the Northland Animal Welfare Society to provide low cost spaying and neutering.

Wet dogs of every size and shape attended the event.  A little drizzle couldn’t keep a good dog or their owner down.

“We are here rain or shine.  It doesn’t matter, because we have so much fun doing it and we support NAWS and all the other rescues that are here trying to get adoptable dogs to find a new forever home,” explained Julie Foster of KC Shelties.

Big dogs, little dogs, fancy dogs, hippie dogs, even died dogs were dressed to the K-Nines for the cause.

“She is a therapy dog and we dress every Friday, when we go visit the nursing home,” said Marsha Orrick, a dog owner.

Forty vendors, 17 rescue groups and dog lovers from around the metro strutted their stuff to raise money for a Northland spay and neuter clinic.

Running dogs loved the 5-K run, even if they were a little distracted by all the other dogs.

“It was insanely distracting.  Her problem is she doesn’t want to run unless there is another dog in front of her,” said Tyler McDaniel, a dog owner.

And even if the weather could have been better for humans, for dogs it was perfect.
