OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Some retirees will participate in a Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest at Overland Park’s Tallgrass Creek retirement community on Tuesday, July 15.
The contest is said to be a good event for residents because many of them have fond memories of summertime outings when they ate watermelons and enjoyed the company of their families and friends.
The winner will be determined by the farthest distance he or she spits the seeds.
The event will be held from 10:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Tallgrass Creek in Overland Park.
