ORLANDO, Fla. — A road rage investigation bounced around three different jurisdictions, but there was no question about who got the worst of the rage on Monday. Our affiliate the Orlando Sentinel reports that motorist Richard Coles told police he felt threatened when another driver brandished a gun, so he did the same.
But Coles ended up shooting himself in the leg.
Police said that he was taken to a hospital with a non-life threatening injury. As for the police investigation, authorities are having trouble locating witnesses to the event and Coles himself does not wish to prosecute nor does he want to talk to investigators.
The Sentinel reports that Florida law allows motorists to carry loaded handguns in their vehicles. Coles was reportedly traveling with his wife when he said the other motorist was the first one to display a weapon.
