KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Royals fans, starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, you’ll have the chance to buy tickets to the next round of the playoffs.
Tickets to the American League Championship Series, or ALCS, go on sale exclusively online at royals.com, don’t go to the box office at Kauffman stadium, you won’t be able to make a purchase.
According to Baseball Prospectus, after Thursday night’s game 1 win, the Royals now have a 69% chance of making it to the ALCS.
Appropriate, since the Royals were founded in 1969.
Royals’ officials say there are a limited number of tickets available, and you can expect to pay double what you did for the wild card round, on average around $100 a ticket.
You can buy up to four tickets per game, and if the Royals don’t make it to the ALCS, you’ll get a full refund.
Also, Royals’ officials say they’ve fixed the computer glitches that frustrated Royals fans who bought tickets online last week. If you don’t end up getting tickets online but still want to go, be prepared to pay big bucks on the secondary market.
Royals’ postseason tickets on the secondary markets are higher than in any other playoff city. Friday morning on StubHub, we found the cheapest tickets to Sunday night’s game 3 against the Angels are going for $237.
That’s $100 more per ticket than it was three days ago.
Field Box seats will cost you at least $322 while a seat behind home plate will cost you $663. Your best bet is to get online as soon as possible and buy a ticket to Game 4 on Monday night at the K.
Standing Room seats are $70 cheaper, while Field Box and Home Plate seats are also much cheaper… for now.
Those prices will continue to rise as many Royals fans want to be at Kauffman Stadium to see the Royals play in the postseason.
“I think anyone who has tickets is holding on to them. They want to come here; they want to come here with their children, their grandchildren. I mean, 29 years is a long time to see a postseason game and from what I hear out there, it is crazy trying to get tickets,” Steve Shiffman, Royals senior director of ticket sales, said.
But for many fans, cost is no obstacle as they will pay whatever it takes to witness history and see the Royals make a deep postseason run.
