SURPRISE, Ariz. — With just their second day off on Monday, the Kansas City Royals have some time to reflect on all they’ve accomplished thus far in Spring Training.

After clobbering the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 17-11 on Sunday, the Royals improved their record to a Major League-best 13-1-1. They’ve been winning, and winning big, outscoring their opponents by a combined 112-59.

With pitching being the major focal point of the offseason, the Royals are off to a fantastic start, ranking second in all of baseball with a 3.87 team ERA.

The Royals have hit a ton this Spring, as they lead MLB with a .347 team batting average. They also rank second in runs and RBI’s, and first in hits with 197. Alex Gordon leads MLB with a .520 AVG, while Mike Moustakas ranks in the top 10 with a .452 AVG.

Spring Training resumes on Tuesday afternoon. Newcomer James Shields is slated to take the mound against Tommy Milone and the Oakland Athletics (7-7).
