The Missouri Tigers and Kansas Jayhawks have shared a conference a history for more than a century. That will change in 2012 when MY goes to the SEC.

On Saturday, the two likely played in the last Border Showdown at Arrowhead Stadium. Fans say it was one of the most important games in the 120 year rivalry. Bragging rights were on the line and MU fans walked away with the most wins between the two schools.

Fans from both sides wore their emotions on their sleeves and players delivered a good game. In the end, the Jayhawks lost their half time lead and ended up hanging their heads in defeat. Fans say the hope the rivalry won’t end.

“Mizzou said they want to play them, they want to keep on playing,” said fan Ben Musholt. “I wish and hope they can.”

Other Mizzou fans say they’ll bask in the glory of going out on top in the gridiron rivalry and now, what’s in the past is in the past.

“I really looked forward to this game and I’ve had a lot of fun here, but we’re moving on to bigger and better things, so I’m looking forward to that,” said fan Hillary Schmidt.

Even though the game may be going away, the rivalry will likely never go away.

MU will now wait and see where it plays in a bowl game. For KU, it’s identifying changes to make to turn things around for next season.
