OLATHE, Kan. — The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office wants people to be aware of a scam underway in which the scammers prey on their victim’s fear of jail.
The caller pretends to be from the District Attorney’s office and claims an arrest warrant has been issued for the resident.
The caller says the only way to avoid impending arrest is to transfer funds utilizing a pre-paid debit card.
Don’t do it!
The District Attorney’s Office says under no circumstance will anyone from their office call and request personal information or ask for money if you have missed jury duty.
They also remind the public that fraudsters can make legitimate phone numbers appear on your caller I.D.
