OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The search for a missing Overland Park resident Jeff Bridge continues on Tuesday, two days after he disappeared while going to look at flood waters.
Bridge, 36, left his house near 105th and Conser around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening to look at flood waters at nearby Indian Creek. Authorities say that Bridge left his home without his cell phone, wallet or car keys.
On Monday, search and rescue teams – including divers and mounted patrol – combed more than a mile and a half of the creek bed for Bridge, including searching piles of underwater brush, but with no sign of him.
“It got to be pretty high. If you see the bridge out on Conser there where the water goes underneath there, it was almost up to the bridge,” said Overland Park Police officer Gary Mason.
According to his family, Bridge recently moved back to the metro area after living in Florida and does not know many people. They say its unlike him to go without contact this long.
“A lot of people do that, are curious to see the high water and didn’t come back and that’s our concern,” said Mason. “At this point we don’t have anything that says he fell in there. Nobody saw him. No idea of what direction he went.”
Police say the Bridge’s mother and sister are still holding out hope that he will be found alive.
