KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Officials with the Kansas City Aviation Department announced on Wednesday that Spirit Airlines will soon fly out of Kansas City International Airport.

After the news release was distributed on Tuesday afternoon, Spirit’s website was seen displaying flight options from KCI to five different domestic destinations: Chicago O’Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Houston Intercontinental and Las Vegas.

“We look forward to help customers traveling to or from the Kansas City area to save money with our ultra-low fares and optional services for a total price that is tough to beat” said Mark Kopczak, Spirit’s Vice President, Network Planning.  “With our unique product, value-conscious travelers get to enjoy keeping more money in their pocket to spend on the good times when they get their destination.”

People in the metro may know Spirit for its penchant for producing ads that use current events to promote itself as the “leading ultra low-cost carrier. The airline flies to more than 50 destinations in the United States, Mexico, Caribbean, Latin American and South America.

Kansas City will be the 56th city added to Spirit’s route network.
