KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A metro company that provides information technology for the sports and entertainment industry is moving their operations downtown and are bringing over 100 high-tech jobs with them, officials announced on Wednesday.
Sporting Innovations, a company created in 2011 by Kansas City’s Major League Soccer organization, Sporting Kansas City, announced that they will be renovating the historic Hanna Rubber building at 1517 Baltimore for their new headquarters.
According to officials, the $20 million renovation plan is expected to create 120 high-tech jobs over the next three years.
“I am pleased that another cutting-edge organization like Sporting Innovations has become the latest company to make a significant capital investment while planning to create new jobs in the Show-Me State,” said Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon in a statement. “This is a company that is growing by using exciting new developments in technology to make information more accessible for sports fans at the venues. We are glad to have them grow in Missouri.”
According to the company, Sporting Innovations assists sporting teams and stadiums around the world, as well as developing sports-related software. The company currently employs around 50 people.
Nixon says that the company could be eligible for economic incentive packages from the state if it meets strict job-creation and investment criteria.
