OLATHE, Kan. — Eric Kaplan, the Blue Valley North graduate accused of stalking two women was granted a continuance Thursday on the charges against him.
Kaplan, 18, is accused of following a woman in his car from a grocery store. The woman did not want to be identified, but she said Kaplan was following her wearing a ski mask.
Another woman came forward after she heard about it and said a similar incident happened to her. She said she was followed from a fast-food restaurant in Johnson County to her workplace.
Kaplan was released last week on the conditions that he is under house arrest. He was charged with reckless stalking, misdemeanor possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Below are mugshots from both arrests.
On Thursday, the judge continued his case until June 27. At that time the court will likely simply set a schedule of court dates for him. The judge and attorneys are also considering whether the two cases should be merged into one.
“My hope is that now that two women are coming forward this isn’t just a random act that you know he has been out there doing this,” said one of the women.
Kaplan was said to be a rising star in the jazz community in Kansas City and was considered an excellent musician. His facebook page said he planned to attend the Conservatory of Music at UMKC.
