KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating after a domestic disturbance call turned into shots fired at responding officers.
Police were called to a house in 27th Street and Van Brunt Avenue shortly after 5 a.m. with an argument. Officials said that a woman’s ex-boyfriend showed up and shot towards two female victims.
When officers arrived, police said he shot several rounds at them.
One officer did return fire. No one has been injured at this time.
Police first believed the suspect went into a house. As backup was called in, Sergeant Jake Becchina with the Kansas City Police Department said he believes that’s when the suspect was able to escape. Officers attempted to contact the man for four hours before discovering he had fled.
An investigator from the Missouri Highway Patrol has arrived to investigate the use of force by police. It’s the second time this has happened since Kansas City promised outside investigation into all officer-involved shootings.
FOX4 has a crew at the scene and is working to get more information. This story will be updated.
