KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Tate Stevens returned home to perform in two concerts, Sunday and Monday.
“The X Factor” winner and Belton native has a lot of fans in the Kansas City area, and the line to Stevens’ Sunday night concert was long. Stevens’ fans went crazy when he appeared on stage to sing the first song at his first big concert in Kansas City. They are the same fans who waited hours in line just to get into the Midland Theater. One group of girls were waiting since 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
“Tate’s from my hometown and we’ve been a fan for a really long time,” said Brittany Cole.
The Belton native has a big following in the area. But if you thought “Tatenation” is just U.S. based, think again.
“I talked with my parents. ‘Oh, you know how much I love him. Please! Come on, it’s my 19th birthday gift.’ And they said, ‘Okay, let’s go,'” said Victoria Semoes, a fan from Brazil.
So one 19-year-old has found herself in Kansas City all the way from Brazil. She even brought along a Brazil jersey, specially made as a gift for Stevens.
“I always watched “The X Factor,” and since the beginning, he was my favorite, and I vote every week. And now I’m here. I couldn’t watch his first show, so I’m just freaking out,” Semones said.
Thousands of fans lined the entire block, eager to get the show started, but also happy for Stevens.
“I’m extremely excited. We’re happy for him, I mean especially since he’s come so far in his life,” said Megan Nelson.
Stevens was only supposed to have one concert in Kansas City, but that one sold out in less than an hour. That’s when Stevens announced another concert the following day, on Monday, also at the Midland. Tickets are still available. Call 1-888-929-7849.
