JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. — A teen accused of stalking an Overland Park, Kan., woman earlier this week has been arrested and charged in a second case Friday evening.
Just before 9 p.m. Friday, 18-year-old Eric Kaplan was arrested and booked into the Johnson County Detention Center.
According to online court records, Kaplan has been charged with reckless stalking in this second case.
On May 13, prosecutors say Kaplan targeted a woman causing her to fear her safety.
That victim talked to FOX 4 earlier this week, but asked to remain anonymous.
“He seemed a little off but I had talked to him and he didn’t seem like crazy or anything,” she said. “So yeah, I was a little frightened that maybe he was hiding somewhere.”
The second victim came forward after seeing FOX 4’s original report on Tuesday. Leawood, Kan., police say that report prompted their investigation about the 18-year-old.
The woman told FOX 4 two weeks before Kaplan was charged for aggravated stalking in Overland Park, she too was followed from a Leawood McDonald’s to her place of work in the Town Center shopping center.
The woman told FOX 4 Kaplan paced back and forth in front of her store for more than two hours before leaving.
On Friday, the woman told FOX 4 she has now spoken with detectives numerous times. She said investigators even pulled surveillance video from her store showing the day in question.
Kaplan now faces four misdemeanor charges in Johnson County, Kan., including two counts of stalking relating to two different woman.
Court records show his bond has been set at $50,000. His court date for the second talking case, in Leawood, is set for June 3.
