OLATHE, Kan. – A teen responsible for hitting and killing a 52-year-old man, and seriously injuring a woman back in August, has finally been charged.

On Tuesday, Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe announced that a 17-year-old male from Overland Park, Kansas, has been charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter, while allegedly driving under the influence,  in the death of Kevin Moroney, and one count of aggravated battery, while allegedly driving under the influence, for seriously injuring Moroney’s girlfriend, Maureen Hogg.

The charges stem from an incident which occurred in the area of 84th and Tomahawk Rd. in Overland Park on August 7  where the teen, who at the time was behind the wheel, struck the victims with his vehicle as they were standing in the street near Hogg’s vehicle outside Moroney’s residence.

State prosecutors have filed a motion requesting the teen be charged as an adult in this case.

The incident was investigated by the Overland Park Police Department and the Johnson County Crime Lab.

No court date has been announced. FOX 4 will not be releasing the name of the teen, unless he is charged as an adult.
