KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A teenager is dead and the Kansas City, Kan., police want to know who’s responsible.
Police said Miguel Garcia, 14, was shot and killed near 14th and Armstrong on Saturday.
A witnesses, who wanted to remain anonymous, told FOX 4 News the shooting happened just before 3 p.m.
“We were upstairs and heard gunshots and that’s when we ran outside,” one witness said.
Police said Garcia and another teenager were walking down the street when they were approached by a vehicle. An argument broke out between the occupants of the vehicle and the two teens. Then things got worse.
The vehicle circled the block and came back to where the teens were standing. The occupants of the vehicle began shooting at the teenagers. Garcia was struck by the gunfire. Shortly after the shooting subsided, several strangers ran up to help the boy.
“He lifted up his shirt and it was right in his chest,” said one witness. “He went to collapse and grabbed me and I helped him inside and that is when he collapsed on the floor and started puking up blood.”
The witness told FOX 4 News the teenager kept asking to call his mother before the teen said he couldn’t breathe any more.
So far, police have no one in custody.
Some witnesses said the suspects left the scene in a blue Ford truck with rims and tinted windows. Police said the suspects were in a black Ford Explorer.
