KANSAS CITY, Mo —
On May 4th and 5th, Screenland will be partnering with the Kansas City Symphony to present a one-of-a-kind movie-going experience. At the Helzberg Hall in the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, the Screenland Theatres will be presenting two different film programs. The Symphony will be playing the score, live, in front of a tremendous screen showing great scenes from Alfred Hitchcock films on Saturday and Rogers and Hammerstein films on Sunday.
Butch Rigby, local film scholar and the founder of Screenland Theaters, will be your host for this opportunity to take part in a unique cinematic experience.
On Saturday, May 4th at 8pm, the Symphony will present music from classic Alfred Hitchcock films such as “North by Northwest,” “Dial M for Murder,” “To Catch a Thief,” and “Strangers on a Train.” Aram Demirjian, assistant conductor of the Kansas City Symphony, will conduct. Rigby will serve as narrator.
On Sunday, May 5th at 7pm, music from classic Rogers and Hammerstein musicals will be performed, including “Oklahoma,” “Carousel,” South Pacific,” “The King and I,” “State Fair” and “The Sound of Music.” Demirjian and Rigby return as conductor and narrator.
