AURORA, Mo. — Police in Aurora, Missouri are investigating who stole a school bus.

Authorities say someone broke into a school bus lot and took one of the buses on a dangerour joy ride.

Police have released surveillance video and hope it will give them a lead in the case.

In the video, you can see the suspect stroll through the bus barn.  Then the bus with its lights flashing, crashes through the fence and drags the gate for a couple of feet.

And the theif’s fun didn’t stop there.  Police say he later stole another vehicle and tore that one up as well.

“Whoever this person was had some intent to do some damage or try to have a joy ride and have some fun.  When we catch you, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent,” said Aurora-Marionville Police Chief Mark Webb.

When he’s caught, police said the suspect could face several felony charges.  The total cost to the bus and other school property damaged by the thief is estimated betweeen $4,000 – $5,000.
