KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A KC businessman who makes a habit of helping those in need, needs a little help of his own. Thieves broke into A Automotive Service overnight and drove off with about $50,000 worth of cars and tools.
The loss included a GMC Denali, Jaguar, dozens of sets of keys and titles along with thousands of dollars in mechanic tools. The heist made for a miserable way to start the day for owner Abraham Karmi.
“They are extremely expensive, they’re not cheap tools. It was really bad morning,” said Karmi.
Losing the high dollar tools hurt, but it hurt even more because the bad guys loaded up all the tools in the Denali and drove away. But Karmi some features of the SUV will help catch the suspects. The rims and wheels are brand new and there’s a sticker in the back window with the name “Annie”.
“They knew what they were looking for, they’ve been in the building and they took a surveillance camera and they took the DVR,” explained Karmi.
Karmi has been hit by crime before, but never like this.
“You know, we replace the cars, we buy the tools again. That’s not going to stop us, what we are doing, but it’s just frustration loss and the time,” said Karmi
One of the computers taken in the burglary was owned by Cars For Christmas, the organization that has given away thousands of cars over the years to people in need. Karmi donates cars to the cause every year. Karmi is hopeful someone will recognize the Denali or has information and will call the TIPS Hotline. If you have information that will lead to the capture of the thieves or help return what was stolen, call (816) 474-TIPS.
