KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thieves smashed into the Northglen 14 Movie Theatre Friday morning and took off with the ATM. The incident took place around 5:30 a.m. on Northeast 80th Street.
“I get here and there’s pieces of the front door all over the place, glass is everywhere,” said Dalton Hartgrove, assistant manager. “I find out that our ATM has been stolen.”
A security camera shows one of two suspects wrapping a chain around the ATM. The suspects then used a car to drag it away.
“‘Usually the ATM is taken out at night, so last night we had a big premier. I was here until 3:30 in the morning and it had to be the night we were doing other things and that got overlooked,” Clayton Smith, general manager, said. “It only takes one night.”
Smith said the thieves didn’t get away with a lot of cash.
“Last night there was about $300 in it, and there were two people, so when it’s all said and done they made about $150 each,” he said.
