KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The fatal terrorist bombings on Monday at the Boston Marathon prompted local organizers of the Trolley Run to evaluate their security.

On Thursday, they sent out the following announcement about the upcoming run scheduled for Sunday, April 28.

The announcement says:

In light of recent developments, no bags or backpacks will be allowed at the Trolley Run. We will transport personal belongings from the Start Line to the Finish Line.

We met with the KCPD and KCFD to reassess our security plan and we’re taking every precaution to deter any potential threats.

Your safety is our top priority. Thank you for running, walking and volunteering with us.”
