KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Mayor Sly James is encouraging his young constituents to turn into bookworms this summer.
The mayor and executive vice president of Southwest Airlines announced the new program “Turn the Page KC” Wednesday afternoon at Attucks Elementary, 2400 Prospect Ave.
The program’s goal is to make sure every child is up to speed and can read at grade-level by third grade.
Southwest Airlines is getting involved by hosting a book drive.
You can drop off new and gently used books inside terminal B at KCI on Thursday and Friday, June 19 and 20.
