KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Oh the weather outside is frightful, but good company and some cocktails can be so delightful. That’s why Kansas City’s Snow and Company opened its doors.
“We know that people need someplace to go and socialize and hang out with their friends even during the cold bitter weather,” said owner Jerry Nevins.
The bar and several other local businesses were open, so the owner turned to Twitter to let people know, but they went one step further and created #SnowDayPubCrawl.
It caught on quickly.
One man who doesn’t want his co-workers to know he’s drinking, couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
“It’s a nice local business to come support,” the man said.
While Bill Riley shamelessly just wanted to get out.
“I’ve been inside all day long, I’ve got cabin fever, wanted to get out in the snow,” Riley said.
He’s even taking part in the Snow and Company snowman building competition.
“Whoever wins based on our rigorous criteria of whether we like it or not gets a $100 gift card to Snow and Company,” said Nevins.
Some patrons here eventually made it over to Celina Tio’s Belfry a few blocks away as part of the Twitter-started pub crawl. She says she wants to be open for her stir-crazy neighbors.
“Get on over here, we’re here waiting for you,” Tio invited.
And if you’re willing to brave the snow and cold, #SnowDayPubCrawl may just last another day, as much of Kansas City prepares to remain shut-in on Wednesday.
