KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two construction workers were transported to an area hospital after being injured in a lightning strike.

Kansas City Fire Battalion Chief Lew Hendricks said the pair were among crews working to build a bridge over 169 Hwy near 96th Street in Kansas City, Mo., when the incident happened. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Work on the bridge has since been suspended for the time being.
