BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. — Prosecutors filed charges Thursday against two teens believed to have shot and killed a 47-year-old Blue Springs man during a burglary Wednesday morning.
Mahki I. Hall, 18, of Grain Valley, Mo., and Malik S. Duren, 17, were charged with one count of first-degree robbery, one count of first-degree burglary, one count of second-degree murder and three counts of armed criminal action for his alleged connection to the case.

According to court records, the victims were inside an apartment near Southwest 9th and Meadowridge when three men entered with handguns. The suspects had covered faces, but one victim recognized one of the intruders.
Luis Cedres was downstairs and went outside, but he was shot. A witness told Blue Springs police that he saw two men fighting outside the residence. One had Cedres in a head lock. Then the other man pointed a gun at Cedres as he tried to run off and fired three more shots.
Officers got description of the suspects’ vehicle, and other officers headed to the scene noticed that vehicle speeding away from the area.
Officers tried to pull over the vehicle, which was heading north on 7 Highway, but the driver steered the car into a ditch near 30th Terrace, and two of the suspects ran off into the woods. A third person remained in the car, and paramedics rushed him to the hospital with a gunshot wound in his stomach.
Officers brought out the K-9 units and searched nearby woods for several hours, but came up empty-handed. However, police said tips led them to find both teens.
Prosecutors requested bonds of $250,000 and $150,000 for the teens.
