PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. — Last Friday a student from Park Hill High School died at the hospital after a suspected drug overdose. On Tuesday two teenagers, Jamell Montgomery, 18, and Krista Meeks, 17, have each been charged with one count of delivering an imitation controlled substance, the substance prosecutors believe killed the student.
Furthermore, Meeks has been charged with two additional charges, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to use. Court documents allege that both Montgomery and Meeks facilitated the delivery of an imitated substance that appeared to be LSD and is referred to as ‘acid.’
The drug was delivered on perforated small blue squares. The drug itself was not LSD, but rather mimics the effect of the drug. Meeks identified it during her interview as a ‘Research Chemical.’
Meeks also told an investigator that she sold six hits of ‘acid’ to the student but would not take it herself because she knows the effects are much harsher and violent than legitimate LSD. Meeks also said that she had read articles where people had died after consumption, but sold it to the student and a friend of his who was present during the deal anyway.
The drug deal was set up after the student had contacted Montgomery to purchase ‘acid.’ Montgomery allegedly made contact with Meeks because he knew that she sold the drug. Courts documents state that Montgomery was going to act as a middle man for the sale but eventually put Meeks and the student in direct contact by providing Meeks’ phone number so they could negotiate a price and meeting place.
Meeks also said that she owed Montgomery money and Montgomery told her that if she sold the two students ‘acid’, that her debt would be forgiven. Both are being held in the Platte County Jail and held on cash-only bonds of $25,000.
